For anyone who fails at time management and considers time to be their mortal enemy, brace yourself since we are going to talk about *drum rolls* the Pomodoro Technique today. It was developed in the late 1980’s by Francesco Cirillo.

What is it?

The technique suggests breaking down your work time into intervals separated by short breaks. Traditionally, the technique states to do 25 minutes of focused work followed by 5 minute breaks while some do focused work for around 45-50 minutes followed by a 10 minute break. It is believed that using this technique not just enhances one's time management skills but also increases productivity.

Different Pomodoro Techniques:

There are hundreds of apps available for you to use on a daily basis. If you like to study with someone then you can head out to YouTube or Instagram where many amazing people post ‘study with me’ videos. And if you want to study in a different place but cannot go anywhere, do I have the right website for you? Yes!! It is called lifeat.io . In this website you can choose where you want to study and the Pomodoro lasts for 25 minutes with both short and long breaks.

Does it work?

The technique forces you to finish work in the time you have set for yourself. After using it for a while, it helps to train the brain to ignore distractions. Francesco Cirillo has also written about how this technique can help kids with ADHD/ADD.

Why may it not work?

As mentioned before, this technique forces you to finish your work in time. This sometimes might lead to unnecessary stress, anxiety and exhaustion. If the work cannot be finished by splitting it to follow the technique, that in itself will become a distraction.
