Health & Fitness:

The institute has enough facilities to sufficiently care for one's mental and physical health. There is a health center in the campus itself with three doctors. You have to have patience because the queues are quite long. The health center will only provide basic health care and has a good enough pharmacy where most medicines are free for students. For serious issues there is a hospital right outside the campus and you need a referral from one of the three doctors. A psychiatrist and a counsellor will be available one day per week. You can book your appointment through an app called ICS. There is a swimming pool, a couple gyms, a huge stadium, a gymnasium, etc. There are clubs which promote learning yoga and karate.

Clubs & Activities:

NIT Rourkela has more than 50 clubs under the categories of technical, film and music, literary and culture, and games and sports. Whatever your passion is, there is always going to be a club that can help pave a path in that field. You can attend competitions, meets, and collaborations with other clubs on behalf of the club. The clubs here play a huge role in helping a student improve their soft skills, be good at presentations, or just enjoy doing what they like.

The Academic Block:

All the departments are in this block. Every course has a department building of its own. Every department has its classrooms, staff rooms, and laboratories with great equipment. Every batch of students have their own faculty advisor(Facad) from their respective departments. Named after the first principle the BBA, also known as the A.V.Hall cloaks itself into a movie theatre on the weekends, as a seminar hall for important events, or as a celebration ground for fresher’s and farewell parties. The campus flaunts a perfect library which has an unlimited number of amazing books for academics and a great collection of magazines that can help you pave paths for yourself in other fields as well. There is also a reading room adjacent to the library.

Restaurants and other facilities:

There are three restaurants in the institute, two small scale hotels that serve North and South Indian food. A few Nescafe stalls are also there in the academic block where you can take a coffee or a snack break. Night canteens are the real deal here. Be it exam time or just a casual fun for friends they never fail to serve the purpose. The one and only place for all of our basic needs is “NEEDS”. The best place to casually go cycling with your friends in the evening to get one milkshake.

If you want to know something else about the institute, please drop a comment.
